From the dataset abstract

The statistics are based on waste quantity data collected from companies and entities. Waste amounts are reported by waste fraction in terms of industry averages, kg/man-year. The statistics can be found from 2015-2022.

To note in statistics:

• The data is based on amounts of waste estimated by companies and entities themselves (most estimates are not based on weigh-ins).
• Industry sectors where the number of companies or entities that have responded is less than 4 have been removed from statistics.

The utility percentage includes all waste placed in materials and energy use. Hazardous waste is not taken into account when calculating utility usage percentage and recycling percentage. The recycling percentage will include all waste placed in material utensil.

When using the data, reference shall be made to Helsinki Region Environmental Services (HSY) waste quantity statistics.
