Aerial orthoimages of the Helsinki metropolitan area from 2015 to 2023.
The latest orthoimages of the Helsinki metropolitan area were acquired in June 2023. The ground sampling distance (GSD) is 5 cm/pixel. The municipalities involved in the project have access to the original 5 cm image, while the resolution of the entire area image published as open data by HSY is 25 cm.
Aerial orthoimages are available in both color (RGB) and false-color infrared (CIR). Our interface includes mosaic versions covering the years 2023 and 2021 for the entire area in both RGB and CIR versions. For earlier years (2019 and older), only color images (RGB) are available through the interface. If needed, images can be requested at avoindata@hsy.fi. The 2023 images are available in GeoTIFF format as individual sheets with a 1 km grid, and earlier images are available with a 2.5 km grid. Additionally, full area mosaics are available in ECW and JP2 formats.
Orthophotos are in the ETRS-GK25 coordinate system. The acquisition project has been carried out through joint procurement, with Helsinki Region Environmental Services (HSY) acting as the procurement coordinator.
