The most typical environmental types in the Turku city center area have been identified and named. The characteristics of these environmental types are described in the Turku city center urban image report. The typology is based on the dominant urban image of each sub-area and the type of environment that majority of the area represents. The environmental typology was created by examining, among other things, the zoning history of the city center, the stages of construction of areas and sites, the impact of traffic planning on the urban image, and the current appearance of street spaces and yards.
