From the dataset abstract

The purpose of the survey on participation in the City of Vantaa is to map the experience and views of Vantaa residents regarding their opportunities for participation and influence. Participation has now been examined three times at city level. This data includes the responses to the 2020, 2021 and 2022 surveys on participation.

The topics of the survey were the experience of participation, motivation and opportunities for participation, familiarity with information and influence channels, effectiveness of participation, satisfaction with opportunities for participation and influence, welcoming of methods of participation and influence and trust in the City of Vantaa.

The results of the survey are utilised in monitoring and developing the city’s participation work. The results are used, for example, in the work on the strategic theme of participation, in the development of communication channels and in the planning of opportunities for participation.

2020 survey

The survey was sent out to 2,000 Vantaa residents. Based on previous experience, the sample emphasised those under 60, but otherwise the sample was random. The survey was conducted in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English. The survey was open from 11 to 28 February 2020, and 555 Vantaa residents responded.

2021 survey

The survey was sent out to 2,000 Vantaa residents. The sample emphasised young people under 35, but otherwise the sample was random. The survey was conducted in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English. The survey was open from 9 December 2020 to 10 January 2021, and 399 Vantaa residents responded.

2022 survey

The survey was sent out to 2,000 Vantaa residents. The survey was conducted in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English. The survey was open 19.1.2022-11.2.2022 and 395 Vantaa residents responded.

Further information on the datasets

Key to the variables can be found on the second tab of the Excel file. For reasons of data protection, some background information of the respondents has been removed from the datasets. In addition, some of the open responses have been edited due to inappropriate language. In the case of double responses (i.e. the respondent has submitted a response both by mail and online), the online response has been deleted.
